Albert William Hackerott, Jr., age 90, passed away Friday, May 14, 2011 at his home in Phillipsburg, Kansas. He was born February 14, 1921 in Osborne County, Kansas to Albert W. & Margaret Dona (Wineland) Hackerott.

"Junior" (as he was called by family & friends) graduated from Osborne High School in 1939. He attended Kansas State University for two years before moving to Wichita to work in an airplane factory.

Junior joined the United States Coast Guard when World War II was declared. When the war was over, he came back to the farm to join his Dad in farming and ranching.

In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and photography.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother-in-law, Robert F. Leach; his nephew, Daniel Leach; and a great-niece, Nicole Shriwise.

Survivors include his sister, Lucille H. (Leach) Sage & husband, Robert Sage; his nephews, Charles W. Leach & wife, Donna; and James E. Leach & wife, Rhonda, along with their children, Matthew and Cindy, and their three grandchildren; his niece, MaryAnne Shriwise and her children, Julie Walters & husband, Jerome, and their two grandchildren: Eric S. Shriwise, his wife, Michelle, and son, Robert; and Andrew J. Shriwise.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg, KS with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Osborne Cemetery, Osborne, KS.

Visitation will be Thursday from noon – 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, KS.

Memorial contributions may be given to the First Lutheran Church, Hospice Services or the Donor's Choice.
