Alexine Marie Paden, daughter of Amon and Averill (Loughry) Smith, was born May 2, 1931 in Norton County, Kansas, and passed away Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Graham County Hospital in Hill City, Kansas, having just celebrated her 82nd birthday.
She grew up and graduated from the Densmore High School.
On June 7, 1952, Alexine was united in marriage to Ted Orr in Norton, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of five children: Robert, Rebecca, Anita, Carl and Leland. Son, Carl, died in infancy and husband, Ted, passed away in April, 1969.
Alexine was a devoted wife and mother who finished raising her four children on her own after their father's death. She worked as a Para professional at the Logan High School in Logan, Kansas for over 20 years.
She was a member of Eastern Star and the Logan United Methodist Church. In her spare time she loved doing all kinds of needlework: quilting, crocheting and embroidering. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed attending their school programs and sporting events. She also enjoyed traveling.
On July 2, 1994, Alexine married Don Paden in Logan, Kansas. This union blessed her life further with stepchildren and step grandchildren. Don passed away on December 7, 2003 and Alexine continued living in their home in Logan until her death.
Her parents, son, and husbands preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons, Robert & wife, Kimba, of Denver, CO and Leland & wife, Sherri, of Phillipsburg, KS; her daughters, Rebecca & husband, Thomas Post, of Pratt, KS and Anita & husband, Donald Lowry, of Plainville, KS; her brother, Irving Smith & wife, Mary, of Logan, KS; her sister, Carol Wyatt of Norton, KS; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several stepchildren and step grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 8, at 2:00 p.m. in the Logan United Methodist Church with Rev. Dean Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Graham County Hospital.
