Alice Boyd, second daughter of John Harvey and Lula Crider Boyd was born August 16, 1915 and departed this life October 22, 2013.
Alice attributed her life of many opportunities to the fact as a teenager she came to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Areas of Christian services included a term as missionary to China in 1948-1950. Eight years were spent as Literature Secretary for the Woman's Missionary Society of the Wesleyan Church of America, 1951-1959. Another eight years were spent in the counseling department of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, 1966-1974. The intervening years were divided between working at Houghton College Library and Registrar's Office and as Secretary to the Pastor of the Houghton Church.
Alice attended Miltonvale Wesleyan College and Houghton College where she received her degree in Theology. She also pastored a church in Albert Lee, Minnesota.
After returning to Phillipsburg in 1974 to care for her father, she worked a 12-year stint at Phillipsburg City Library and 3 years at Granny's Oven for the most part, to keep her out of mischief.
Once Alice retired, she focused her time on her daily devotionals and knitting sweaters and caps for children through the Guidepost Foundation and then later through World Vision. Alice continued to contribute those sweaters up until this year. She contributed over 500 hand knit sweaters and caps to help these children.
"My life has been made rich by the many wonderful friends I have met, wherever I have lived, all because of the Greatest Friend – Jesus."
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Glenna; brothers, Albert (Doc) and Willis (Bill).
Survivors include her sister, Pauline Kingrey of Arvada, CO and sister, Lucille Schneider of Dallas, OR; many cousins, nephews, nieces and a host of friends from Phillipsburg and around the world.
