Obituary

Phillipsburg resident, Alice Dell Hoppe, passed away Tuesday evening, December 16, 2014 at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas at the age of 78.

She was born April 22, 1936 in Burr Oak, Kansas the daughter of Forest & Retha B. (Hawkins) Foster. She graduated from the Burr Oak High School and then attended Washburn University.

Alice was united in marriage in 1960 to Charles Stanek in Topeka, Kansas. To this union two daughters were born, Sharla & Chris. The family moved to Ohio and later to Agra, Kansas. Alice and Charles eventually divorced.

Alice worked as the secretary in the Medical Lab at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg for many years, retiring in 1999.

She married Fred Hoppe on July 12, 1991 in Denver, Colorado. With this union brought Fred's two children, Richard & Lisa. Following a divorce, Alice continued to be a close part of this family.

Alice was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Phillipsburg. She was passionate about her walk with the Lord, learning more about Him and drawing closer to Him.

Alice loved horses. She rode when she was able and collected many figurines and art pieces that she could enjoy in her home. She also loved to quilt when she was able. She especially enjoyed, after moving into Phillipsburg, the time and fellowship with her friends.

Survivors include her two daughters, Sharla Stanek of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Chris Stanek of Overland Park, Kansas; her two stepchildren, Lisa Dalme of Minneapolis, Kansas and Richard Hoppe of Belton, Missouri; 3 step grandchildren; and 3 step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 21, at 2:00 p.m. in the Calvary Baptist Church, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Mark Gervais officiating. Graveside service will follow at 4:15 p.m. in the Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak, KS.

Alice Hoppe will lie in-state on Friday, Dec. 19, from noon – 9 p.m. and again Saturday from noon – 9 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Calvary Baptist Church.
