Phillipsburg resident, Alice Whitney, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the Hays Medical Center, Hays, KS, at the age of 97.

She was born on April 4, 1928 in Stockton, KS the daughter of Walter and Ella Belle (Betts) Shearer.  She was a homemaker.

Alice was united in marriage to Keith Whitney in Phillipsburg, KS on June 22, 1947.  He preceded her in death on January 18, 2012.

Survivors include her two daughters: Vickie Artis and husband Dave of Naperville, IL and Carol Stoltz and husband Jim of Wichita, KS; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother Walter Shearer of Chino, CA.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Darlene Sheffer officiating.  Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Friends may sign the book from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.  Alice wished for her casket to remain closed.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas State University Johnson Cancer Research Center c/o the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
