Andrew David Russell, son of Charlie & Julia (Ragsdale) Russell, was born March 18, 1943 in Phillips County, Kansas, and passed away August 4, 2015 at the Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 72.

For most of his life, Andy was able to make his living doing what he loved the most – farming. For a short time he was employed at TAMKO Asphalt Products in Phillipsburg, Kansas, but eventually returned to the farm.

In his spare time he loved being outdoors, working in his garden or going fishing. Andy had an easy-going nature and was a friend to everyone he met.

The greatest treasures of his life were his children – but his grandchildren were his pride and joy. Spending time with any or all of them always made him smile.

His parents; brother, Albert; sisters, Norma Rebarchek and Clara Bretton; and a grandson, Korbon Russell, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children: Robert (Annie) Russell and Elizabeth Freeman, all of Phillipsburg, KS; Lacie (Mark) Sieck of Goodland, KS; stepchildren: Levi (Becky) Dougherty of Phillipsburg and Thea (Kelly) Ratliff of Goodland; three brothers: Ralph (Barbara) Russell of Phillipsburg, George (Janet) Russell of Agra, KS and Loyd (Wanda) Russell of Tasco, KS; two sisters: Alice (Bill) Wing of Salina, KS and Ruth (Ed) McElhaney of Quinter, KS; 14 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Lew Van Der Wege officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.
Mr. Russell will lie in-state on Thursday from noon – 9 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Kidney Fund or the Phillips County Ministerial Alliance.
