Obituary

Norma Angie Butterfield was born October 18, 1928, the first of 4 children to Oscar and Pauline (Park) Poyser on the family farm north of Woodruff, Ks in the Eldorado Township. She passed away on March 16, 2020 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, Kansas at the age of 91.
She attended Springbrook Public School near the family farm and the Long Island High School in Long Island, Ks graduating in 1945. After graduation she worked at the Schobels Drug Store in Alma, Nebraska until her marriage to Arlen Allen Butterfield at the Methodist Church in Alma, Nebraska in 1948. To this union, they were blessed with three children: Terry Lynn, Kent Allen and Pamla Jan. They made their home in Franklin, Nebraska and then moved to Phillipsburg, Kansas in 1953 where Arlen worked at the Farmland Industry Refinery before retiring in 1991.
Angie, as she was called by many, was a mother and homemaker until her children were older, she then worked at several places in Phillipsburg: The Gambles Store, Keesee Real Estate, The Western Auto Store and the Coast to Coast Store. After retirement Arlen and Angie enjoyed traveling and especially spending the winter months at South Padre Island, Texas. Angie loved to play golf and did get a hole in one at the Country Club Golf Course on South Padre Island. They also enjoyed camping trips to the Black Hills with their dearest friends Merlyn and Dolores Patterson.
She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Phillipsburg, Kansas where she was involved in many aspects of the church. She was on the Christian Board of Education, a long time Sunday School teacher, sang in the church choir and sang for funerals. In 2009, Arlen and Angie moved to Kearney, Nebraska where they became members of the First Baptist Church of Kearney, Nebraska. Arlen passed away March 11, 2016 at their home in Kearney and Angie's sons and daughter took turns caring for her at her home there until her dementia progressed to the point that professional help was needed. Angie was moved back to Phillipsburg, Kansas into the Phillips County Nursing Home in May, 2018 until her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Keith Poyser, and sister Mary Lou Hopson and husband Harry Hopson.
Survivors include her son Terry and wife Hildreth of Colorado Springs, Co; son Kent Butterfield of Phillipsburg, Ks; daughter Pam and husband Darryl Leidig of Hesston, Ks; granddaughters: Darla and husband Jerome Esau of Moundridge, Ks; Stephanie and husband Tony Blauert of Colorado Springs, Co; Jody and husband Pete Gregoire of Foristell, Mo; Stacy and husband Andre Gordon of Colorado Springs, Co; Bridget Butterfield of Lakewood, Co; and Shannon and husband Brett Butler of Meridian, Id; great-grandchildren: Kalvin Blauert; Dylan and Carter Haynes; Micah, Lucas and Isaiah Butler; and Logan and Allyson Gregoire; her brother Kenneth and wife Darlene of Manhattan, Ks; sister-in-law Dolores Poyser of Orleans, Ne; brother-in-law Eric Butterfield of Kearney, Ne; and her nieces and nephews.
Angie was a dearly loved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her husband and family so very much. She always held close to her faith and we thank the lord for her. The duo of Arlen and Angie are back together again.

Due to CDC guidelines & the Kansas ban on over 50 people at a gathering, private family funeral services will be held Friday, March 20 at11:00 a.m. in  the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating. Services will be streamed live on the funeral home facebook page.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 Wed. & 9:00 to 9:00 Thurs. with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thurs. evening.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Kearney or the Phillips County Christian Foundation
