Lifelong rural Kensington resident, Anna Sophie (Seemann) Ferguson, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Prairie Haven in Kensington at the age of 84.
Anna was born May 19, 1926 to George & Sophie (Isernhagen) Seemann in rural Kensington, the second of three children. She attended schools in Kensington and graduated from high school in 1944. After high school she worked at the furniture store and then at the drug store, where she met Reed "Bill" Ferguson. She was a homemaker and crafter; she liked teaching 4-H cooking lessons. She enjoyed
cooking for the many hired-hands on the farm. Also, she created "Ann's Sweet & Cuddly", where she made jams, jellies, pickles, and many crafts.
She was united in marriage to Reed "Bill" Ferguson on August 27, 1950 at St. John Lutheran Church in Kensington, and to this union four children were born: Luann, George, Robert & Betty. Robert passed away at the age of 3 in 1960.
Preceding her in death were her son, Robert; husband, Reed "Bill"; her parents, and a brother, Ernst.
Survivors include her daughter, Luann Wilson & husband, Paul of Burr Oak, KS; son, George Ferguson & wife, Debra of Kensington, KS; daughter, Betty Sidman of Agra, KS; grandchildren: Christina Sidman of Rapid City, SD, Matthew Sidman of Bloomington, NE, Jackie Sidman-Norman of Colby, KS, Elizabeth Wilson of Chicago, IL, Robert Wilson of Salina, KS, Erin Ferguson of Emporia, KS, and Trenton Ferguson of Manhattan, KS; her sister, Pauline Gardner & husband Wendell of Aurora, CO; sister-in-law, Rosalie Seemann of Colby, KS; great-grandchildren: Reed Sidman of Rapid City, SD, Molly Norman of Colby, KS and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. John Lutheran Church, Kensington, with Pastor Lorna Paulus officiating. Burial will follow in the Germantown Cemetery, Smith County.
Visitation will be Thurs. from noon – 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg, KS.
Memorial contributions may be given to the St. John Lutheran Church or Hospice Services.
