Celia Anne (Sprik) Jansonius, longtime resident of Prairie View, KS, passed away February 18, 2016 at the Logan Manor Nursing Home at the age of ninety two years and seven months. She was born July 21, 1923 at the Sprik farmhouse northeast of Prairie View to Albert and Weida (Jensma) Sprik.
Anne was baptized and received her Christian education at the Luctor Christian Reformed Church and made her profession of faith. Her first eight years of education were spent attending the one-room Prairie Queen School. After her sophomore year at Long Island High School she moved with her family to Hospers, Iowa, where she graduated from high school in 1941. Anne spent time in the Denver area working during World War II at a military trunk factory. She corresponded through many letters (edited in many cases) between her and her future husband throughout the four years Dick served overseas. On June 12, 1946, she was united in marriage to Dick Jansonius and they resided on a farm northeast of Prairie View. From this relationship emerged five sons; David, Harvey, ElWynn, Philip and Randall. She was a stay at home mother and homemaker until she retired and moved to the city of Prairie View in 1984. She has resided at the Logan Assisted Living Center and the Logan Manor for the past two years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dick, her granddaughter, Jamie Jansonius, her brother Henry and sisters, Wilma, Goldie and Alvina.
Survivors include her sons: David and wife Velma of Prairie View, Harvey and wife Susan of Hays, ElWynn of Prairie View, Philip and wife Elizabeth of Prairie View and Randall & wife Joy of Ransom; her brother, Stanley Sprik of Worthington, MN; her sister, Hazel Nibbelink of Sioux Center, IA; 9 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Anne was a Christian woman who lived by example with a good work ethic, great values and a family mentality. The legacy Anne leaves is a family grateful for her quiet life of Christian humility and service where she prayed and served.
A prayer service will be held Monday, Feb. 22 at 10:00 a.m. in the Luctor Christian Reformed Church, followed by a committal service at the Luctor Cemetery & Memorial service at the Church with Pastor Aaron Rust officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church or Hospice Services.
Mrs. Jansonius will lie in state from 5:00 to 9:00 Sat. & noon to 9:00 Sun with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:00 Sunday evening.
