Glade resident, Edith Arlene Shields, age 70, died Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Hays Medical Center, Hays, KS.
She was born July 31, 1939 in Gilmer, Texas the daughter of Frank D. & Edith E. (Lang) Miller. She was raised and attended schools in Arkansas City, Kansas.
She was united in marriage to Richard F. Shields on July 27, 1956 in Kensington, Kansas.
Arlene worked at the Phillips County Hospital and the Phillips County Long Term Care Unit in Phillipsburg as a Nurses Aide until She & Dick ran The Shields 66 in Glade for a number of years.
Survivors include her husband, Dick of the home; an adopted son, J.W. Vandiver & wife, Gayle of Tuttle, Oklahoma; a brother, Frank D. Miller of Florida; sister-in-law, Roberta McCall of McPherson, KS; 2 step-grandchildren; and 6 step great grandchildren.
Funeral services was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2010 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Rev. Phil Morris officiating. Burial followed in the Marvin Cemetery, Glade, KS.
