Arloa Eulala Gingles Clark, the youngest daughter of Frank and Hazel (Klink) Gingles, was born August 17, 1929 at her grandparents' home, Walker and Lucinda (Codner) Klink at Speed, Kansas. She spent her early life on the farm of her other grandparents, Daniel and Elnora Gingles, of Kirwin, Kansas. Arloa attended 12 years of school, at Kirwin, Kansas and graduated in 1947.

Arloa passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 86. Her husband of 53 years, Oran Clark, parents Frank and Hazel Gingles, sister Aerial Lemon and husband Lauren, brother Adrain and wives Thelma McLaughton and later wife Margery Gaines Allen, brother Armand Gingles and wife Lorene Crawmer all preceded her in death.

Arloa and Oran were united in marriage on November 27, 1947 at the parsonage of the Methodist Church in Phillipsburg, Kansas. To this union three children were born, Daren Allen Clark in 1949, Regina Rae Clark in 1953, and Dale Jay Clark in 1958. In later years, their only granddaughter Jennifer Sue Clark joined the family.

Arloa and Oran lived in Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa, moving from Phillipsburg, Kansas in 1948 to Lincoln, Nebraska, and then to Stockton, Iowa in 1950 where they worked for a farmer. They started farming in 1952 near Mechanicsville, Iowa and in 1953 moved to a farm near Tipton, Iowa and then in 1960 moved to a farm south of Promise City, Iowa where they resided for 44 years. The last 5 years that she lived on the farm, she managed the farm by herself. In 2004, Arloa moved to Senior Housing in Corydon, where she resided at the time of her passing.

Survivors include children: Regina Rae Hook (Don) of Centerville, Daren Allan Clark (Sandy) of Leeds, Alabama, Dale Jay Clark (Joetta) of Corydon, sisters in law, Geneva Gingles of Logan, Kansas, Pauline Clark of Davenport, Iona Clark of New Port Richey, Florida, grandchildren: Jennifer Sue Hitt (Garrett) of Derby, Jeremy Hook (Terri Lynn) of Clovis, New Mexico, Daniel Clark (Shyanne) of Bondurant, Jeff Clark (Lauren) of Marshalltown, Joshua Clark & Kyle Clark of Grinnell, Randy Eckley (Kay) of Ashland, Missouri, Joni Henry (Tim) of Centralia, Missouri, Shawn Eckley (Cheryl) of Henderson, Tennessee, Kevin Eckley (Kim) of Oklahoma City, OK, Christie Gilbertson (Brian) of Centralia, Missouri, 24 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arloa joined the order of Eastern Star in 1966 and served as an officer for 18 years including being Worthy Matron in 1971. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served as secretary for 2 years. Besides being a homemaker and farm wife she worked outside the home as a clerk, waitress, and bookkeeper and later cleaned homes for many local people, until heath reasons caused her to discontinue working outside of the home. She found peace and joy tilling the soil, then watching the miracles grow, bloom and produce bountiful crops. Arloa loved life and she was always willing to help those needing TLC. Her and her husband lent a helping hand to many family and friends. Family was at the top of her list.

Graveside services will be held at the Fairview Cemetery in Phillipsburg, Kansas at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015 with Pastor Lew Van Der Wege officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Thursday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, 1115 2nd Street, Phillipsburg, KS.
