Obituary

Arnold George Zillinger, son of George Adam & Anna Elizabeth (Fritsch) Zillinger, was born September 2, 1928 on the family farm 7 ½ miles northeast of Logan, Kansas and departed this life on May 12, 2013 at the Logan Manor.

He was baptized September 30, 1928 and confirmed June 21, 1942 at the Logan Wolf Creek Lutheran Church. As a young boy he attended the Pleasant Ridge #61 School, completing his education through 8th grade. He then stayed at home to help on the family farm, learning all that he could in order to fulfill his lifelong ambition as a successful farmer and rancher.

On December 17, 1949 Arnold married Dorothy Bradley at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Logan. To this union two sons were born: Steven Arnold and Philip Wayne.

Arnold was actively involved in the rural community and served as a board member and officer for many organizations over a number of years. Some of the groups he served included the Logan Coop Board, ASCS Board, First National Bank Advisory Board, Rural Fire Board, Federal Land Bank Board from 1979 – 1995, 4-H Council Board and also as a 4-H Leader, and the St. Peter's Lutheran Church Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward and Herman; and sisters, Ida Forssberg, Marie Hulse and Hilda Grantz.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home; sons, Steve Zillinger & wife, Kay, of Grand Junction, CO and Philip Zillinger & wife, Lea, of Logan, KS; five grandchildren: Anthony & wife, Jennifer, of Oberlin, KS; Amanda & husband, Ryan Carroll, of Grand Junction, CO; Mandy & husband, Steve Goble, of Logan, KS; and Anna and Amy Zillinger, both of Logan; six great-grandchildren: Adam, A.J. and Jenna Zillinger of Oberlin, KS; Trevor Schmidt of Hays, KS; and Morgan & Dawson Goble of Logan; and one sister, Clara Cox, of Seal Beach, CA.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 15, at 2:00 p.m. in the Logan Christian Church, Logan, KS with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.

Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Logan Funeral Home in Logan, KS, with the family receiving friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice Services or Logan Manor.
