Obituary

Austin Myles Scales was born October 3, 1991 in Phillipsburg, Kansas to Michael & Kaye (Scott) Scales. He passed away in a car accident near Stockton, Kansas on
August 27, 2010.

Austin attended Logan Middle School in Logan, KS and went on to attend high school in Meade and Stockton, KS, and also for a brief time in Jasper, TX. He graduated with the Class of 2010 from Wamego High School in Wamego, KS where he participated in Track and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Campus Life. Trinity Baptist Youth Group was also an important part of his life. Austin loved God and touched many lives through his positive and caring nature. He looked out for anyone less fortunate and animals alike. He was always there to lend a helping hand and his smile could make anyone's day.

He began attending Cloud Community College in Concordia, KS and was majoring
in Criminal Justice. It was his goal to become a Police Officer because he wanted to help others and be a role model to all.

Austin was preceded in death by his grandmother, Anne Sullivan; an uncle, Jay Scott; grandmother, Kathy Bunnell; great-grandmother, Marie Losey; great-grandparents, Fidelis & Albina Schmidt and great-grandfathers, Fred Grunert and Omer Roy.

Survivors include his parents, Kaye & Steve Roy of Stockton, KS and Michael Scales of California; his sisters, Ashley Schlyer of Hays and Jenna Milander of Laurel, NE; one brother, Patrick Scales of Omaha, NE; his grandparents: Ray & Karen Scott of Denver, CO, John Sullivan of Logan, KS, Patti & Cecil Roy of Stockton, KS, Ray & Donna Bunnell of Alma, NE, and Sharon Book of Mountain Home, AR; great grandmothers, Alberta Scott of Montrose, CO and Irene Grunert of Illinois; great-grandparents, Vula & Gerald Gager, of Plainville, KS; also by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Destiny.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2010 in the Logan Christian Church, 204 N Douglas, Logan, KS. Burial followed in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.

Memorials are suggested in Austin's name in care of the funeral home.
