Barbara Ann (Littrell) Russell of rural Phillipsburg, Kansas, died Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at her home surrounded by family.
Barbara was born July 18, 1951 in Holdrege, Nebraska, the daughter of George and Genevieve (Smith) Littrell. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School with the class of 1969. Later in life, after her children left home, she finished her education at Colby Community College, earning her Associate's degree.
On January 5, 1971, Barbara was united in marriage to Ralph Russell in Assyria, Kansas. The couple lived several places before buying a farm north of Phillipsburg in August, 1982. This became the home where they raised their children, gardened and farmed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Darrell Bohl, and infant grandson, Bentley Russell.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph, of the home; her children: Dianne Johnson of Hays, KS; Erryn Austin & husband, Anthony, also of Hays; Matthew Russell & wife, Rachel, and Jon Russell, all of Phillipsburg, KS; and Apryl Brown & husband, Gary, of Hays; three brothers: Gary Littrell & wife, Peggy, of Phillipsburg; Eddie Bohl & wife, Sandy of Faucett, MO; and Lloyd Littrell of Beloit, KS; her sister, Donna Maaske of Holdrege, NE; 14 grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 2 at 2:30 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg, with Pastor James Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 Thursday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Services.
