Phillipsburg resident, Berneda Lawyer, passed away on March 11, 2024, at the Phillip County Retirement Center, at the age of 91.

Berneda was born on April 10, 1932, in Phillips County, Kansas, to her parents Guy and Myrtle (McQueen) McDowell.

She was united in marriage to Vernon Lawyer on May 24, 1949, in Kirwin, Kansas.

Berneda is preceded in death by her parents Guy and Myrtle McDowell, son Dean Lawyer, daughter Pam Lawyer, 2 stillborn children, brothers Leland, Gerald, and Charles McDowell, and sister LaDonna Ward.

Survivors include her husband of 74 years, Vernon Lawyer, of Phillipsburg, Kansas, son Gene Lawyer and wife Ardis of Phillipsburg, Kansas, daughter-in-law Glennie Lawyer of Aurora, Colorado, granddaughters Kim Andrews and husband Rush of Aurora, Colorado, and Brooke Estrada and husband Edgar of Bertrand, Nebraska, and sister-in-law Verla Fish of Yuma, Arizona.

Cremation is planned.
