Bertha Anna (Jurgensmeier) Glennemeier, daughter of Ben and Matilda (Kempkes) Jurgensmeier, was born on December 14, 1914, in St. Stephens, Nebraska and passed away June 28, 2014, at the Logan Manor Nursing Home, Logan, KS, at the age of 99 years, 6 months and 14 days.
She attended the Sacred Heart Catholic School, in Lawrence Nebraska.
On July 26, 1937, Bertha was united in marriage to George B. Glennemeier, at the Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence, Nebraska. The couple made their home on a farm southeast of Densmore, KS, where they resided until they moved to Logan, KS, in 1987. They were blessed with five children.
Bertha was a homemaker her entire life. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing cards, reading, quilting, crocheting, gardening, baking, and working crossword puzzles. She was well known for her chocolate pies, cookies, cinnamon rolls, bread and her famous noodles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Matilda, her husband George, in 1990, her brothers Clarence, Vincent, Robert, her sisters Clara, Agnes, Irene, Bernice, and her son-in-law Vern Bittel.
Bertha is survived by four sisters, Maxine, Patricia, LaVeta and Lois, one sister-in-law, Marjorie, five children, Nadine Bittel, Larry (Mickey) Glennemeier, Diane (Milan) Johnson, Betty (James) Pfannenstiel, and James (Virginia) Glennemeier, 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many other friends and family members.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 2, at 10:00 a.m. in the St. John Catholic Church Logan. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery.
A Rosary service will be held Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Logan Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 Monday and 9:00 to 9:00 Tuesday at the Logan Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established to the Logan Manor, Hospice Services or the church.
