Obituary

Beth Jean Sharp was born May 29, 1923 in Agra, KS, the oldest child of Harry Omer & Ethel Pearl (Snow) Wilson. She passed away on December 7, 2016 at the Andbe Home in Norton, KS at the age of 93.
She attended school in Concordia, Brewster and graduated from Colby High School with the class of 1941. Her father was killed in July of that year. After the start of WWII, Beth moved to Denver, working at Gates Rubber Co and the Federal Reserve Bank. On November 28, 1944, she was married to John L. Cole from Baltimore, MD in Denver. Beth followed John to Army Air Force bases in Rapid City, SD and Clovis, NM before he was shipped overseas. She then returned to Colby where their son James H. (Kit) was born on their first anniversary. They later divorced and Beth returned to Denver to work at
Wells Music Co. On October 14, 1950, Beth and William T. "Bill" Sharp of Hammon, OK were married in Norton, KS. They made their home in Lenora, KS until 1958 when they moved to Norton. To this union, 2 children were born, Nancy Colette and Thomas Wilson.
Beth assisted Bill with his construction business but was primarily a homemaker. In later years, she worked at First National Bank in Norton. She truly enjoyed her work there and the people she worked with. After Beth & Bill divorced, she once again returned to Colby, living there for 20 years. She then returned to Norton, living there until her death.
She loved going places, working crossword puzzles and most of all, dancing! Cooking was not on her list of talents, except for three-bean salad, fruit salad, and her famous fudge that was requested by her family every Christmas. Beth also loved to spend time boating at the lake, even though she was terrified of the water.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister Betty Jane, who was stillborn; her sister Jackie Waddell and brother-in-law Ken Waddell.
Survivors include her 3 children: Jim (Lida) Sharp of Norton, Colette (Mick) Miller of Norton and Tom (Maya) Sharp of Plano, TX; 6 grandchildren: Ashley (Phil) Maloley of Holdrege, NE; Brock (Jennifer) Miller of Norton; J.W. Sharp of Andover, KS; Logan Sharp & Will Sharp of Dallas, TX; and Kati Sharp of New York, NY; 6 great-grandchildren: Grace, Claire, & Clay Maloley and Emily, Erika & Ellie Miller; her sister, Dixie (Merlin) Green of Atwood, KS as well as several nieces and nephews.

Cremation is planned. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Dec. 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the Agra Cemetery, Agra, with Pastor Darel Boston officiating.
