Obituary

Norton, KS resident, Bobbie L. Williams, 87, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, ahead of his beloved wife, Virginia, one day after their 62nd wedding anniversary.

Bobbie was born July 31, 1927 in McLeansboro, Illinois, the son of John & Pearl Lee (Williams) Williams. He graduated from High School in McLeansboro.

He served two tours in the United States Army, the second during the Korean War, serving with the 1st Calvary Division, earning the Korean Service Medal with 4 campaign stars, a Combat Medical Badge and the Purple Heart.

He was united in marriage to his wife, Virginia Mae Bracken, on June 18, 1953 in McLeansboro. The couple was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Janet and Debra. They moved to Ft. Morgan, CO where Bob retired as Store Manager from the Republic Supply Company, an oilfield supply business. He was later employed as the Office manager for H&S Testing, a seismic testing company, for many years.

After 42 years in Ft. Morgan, Bob & Virginia moved to Norton, KS to be near their daughter, Debra, and husband, Jim. Bob enjoyed the last days of his life telling stories, lunching with Virginia & Deb, spoiling his schnauzer, Marley, and bragging about his grandkids and great-grandbabies.

His great love in life was his family - his wife, Virginia, of the home, and his daughters, Janet Crow of Eaton, CO and Debra Jackson of Norton. He said his "second life" began when he became a Granddad to Jeff, then Rachel, followed by Josh. Then he was blessed to become a Great-Granddad to Brinley & Braxton. He also leaves behind his brother, James Williams of Ft. Worth, TX and sister, Joyce Scudamore of Decatur, TN.

Cremation was chosen, a private family inurnment will follow in the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Wakeeney, KS. Condolences may be sent to his wife, Virginia, 405 N. Graves Ave., Norton, KS 67654.

Bob lived for and loved his family all of his days, and passed with all their love for him in his heart.
