Phillipsburg resident, Pastor Brian L. Loreg passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg at the age of 78.
He was born September 15, 1943 in Norton, KS the son of Joseph V. and Jessie (Milkey) Loreg . Brians father was killed in action during WWII and was raised by his step-father Milford Anderson.
Brian attended the Belleville High School and participated in the Buddy Pack Program and enlisted in the United States Navy from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1964 as a Seaman Apprentice.
Brian then returned home and worked for Tamko in Phillipsburg, KS as a Truck Driver. He then followed his calling to serve the Lord as a minister. He was ordained in both the Wesleyan and Nazarene Churches. Brian served at the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Wichita, KS, The Beavers Church of the Nazarene in Beaver, OK, Coalgate Church of the Nazarene in Coalgate, OK, Englewood Wesleyan Church in Rural Phillips County, KS, and Church of the Nazarene in Gaylord, KS. He also substituted and served at other area churches as needed. Brian continued his studies earning his Master's Degree and was currently working on his Doctorate.
He was united in marriage to Mary Scheidenman and to this union two children were born: Melissa and Brian. The couple later divorced. Brian then met and married Alda (Dobkins) Henderson on February 14, 1981 in Phillipsburg, KS. With this union came Alda's three children: Troy, Sheila, and Mark.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents and son Mark Henderson.
Survivors include his wife Alda Loreg of the home; daughter Melissa (Loreg) Rhoades of Pratt, KS; son Brian (Loreg) Scheidenman of Wichita, KS; son Troy Henderson of Minneapolis, KS; daughter Sheila Henderson of Phillipsburg, KS; sister Linda Shelton of Courtland, KS; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor's Jay Brandon and Randy Garner officiating. The chapel services will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.
Pastor Loreg will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel.
