Obituary

Carol Ann (Fox) Stanton, 76, Logan, died August 5, 2014 in Kearney, Nebraska. She was born June 16, 1938 in Logan, Kansas to Leslie Glenn and Bernice Amanda (Shelly) Fox. She was a 1956 graduate of Logan High School and attended Brown Mackie College in Salina, Kansas.

She married Darrell Wayne Stanton on July 3, 1957 at Fort Gordan Army Base in Augusta, Georgia. Darrell and Carol were the parents of three children: Leah Rae, Darren Kyle and Leslie Andrew (Andy).

Carol worked in several types of businesses throughout her life including KN Energy, Limes Sundries, Ed's Little Super, as a school bus driver, as a school lunchroom cook, and also as a cook at Logan Manor and Salina Regional Medical Center. She was a co-owner with Darrell of Stanton Appliances, Logan Recreation and Stanton Enterprises. She made and sold handcrafts a majority of her adult life. She and Darrell attended hundreds of arts and crafts shows throughout their marriage.

For the first three years of their marriage, Darrell was in the United States Army and Carol lived in Logan where she worked for KN Energy in Phillipsburg. Darrell was stationed in the Alaskan Territory from 1958-1959 and returned to Kansas in 1959, when they moved to Salina, Kansas. In 1961, she and Darrell became parents when Leah was born. In 1963 Darren was born and Andy was born in 1969.

In 1970, the family moved back to Darrell and Carol's hometown of Logan to raise their family. They lived in Logan until 1986 and then lived in Boulder, Colorado; Salina, Kansas; Stockton, Kansas; and Leoti, Kansas until their retirement in 2000, when they returned back to their hometown of Logan.

She was a former president of the Logan American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Darrell, of the home; daughter Leah Garman and husband Ken of Burr Oak, Kansas; two sons, Darren Stanton and wife Amy of Osborne, Kansas and Andy Stanton and wife Dana of Hays; one sister, Leah Prater and husband Ralph of Escondido, California; two brothers, Norman "Bud" Fox of Salina, Kansas, and Doyle Fox and wife Bonnie of El Dorado, Kansas; and nine grandchildren; Joe Hesting and wife Stacey of Prairie Village, Kansas; Jacob Hesting and wife Jacilyn of Savannah, Georgia; Zane Hesting of Prairie Village, Kansas; Katie Hesting of Manhattan, Kansas; Colton and Lori Stanton of Osborne, Kansas; and Jackson, Grace and Gabriel Stanton of Hays, Kansas. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren; Jayden and Carter Abegglen of Kearney, Nebraska, and Kline Hesting of Prairie Village, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 11, at 10:00 a.m. in the Logan Christian Church, Logan, KS, with Delbert Stanton officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.
Friends may sign the book and visit with the family on Sunday, Aug. 10, from 2-5 p.m. at the American Legion in Logan.
