Obituary

Glade resident, Carolyn Kaye Trammell passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg at the age of 72.

She was born June 25, 1951 in Phillipsburg, KS the daughter of Roy and Ruby (Holbrook) Wurtz.

Carolyn graduated from the Phillipsburg High School, then attended business school and became a bookkeeper at the McPherson College.  Later she worked at a plastic extrusion plant and a Costal Mart in McPherson, then in 1997 following her father's accident; she returned to Phillips County and worked for Dollar General, Alco, and White's Foodliner in Phillipsburg.  She was known as a "Jack of All Trades".  She loved teaching her children the things they should know, like maintaining their vehicles and how to love unconditionally.

She was united in marriage to Larry Jensen in 1971, and to this union 3 children were born:  Johnathan, Travis, and Kristin.  They made their home in Nickerson and Glade, KS.   She then met and married Jimmie Lamb in McPherson, KS.  To this union Jimmie II was born.  The couple moved to Texas, then returned to McPherson.  The couple later divorced.  Then in 1993 she married Alvin Trammell and later divorced.

Later in life she enjoyed the time she shared with her kids and grandchildren, gardening, and watching Gunsmoke.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Raymond E. Wurtz; granddaughter Hope Jensen, and her son Travis.

Survivors include her sons Jonathan Jensen of Kirwin, Jimmie Lamb of Glade; a daughter Kristin Jensen of Pueblo, CO; 24 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Dave Pugh officiating. The services will be live streamed on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. Burial will follow in the Marvin Cemetery, Glade, KS.

Carolyn will lie in state from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with the family receiving friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday evening for visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carolyn Trammell Memorial Fund.
