Cheryl Ann Sporleder, daughter of Kenneth & Verna (Workman) Colby, was born in Yreka, California on June 3, 1951, and passed away at her home in Logan, Kansas on July 26, 2014 at the age of 63.
"Cherie," as she was known to friends and family, grew up and attended schools in the Beloit and Concordia, Kansas areas.
She later moved to Logan, Kansas, where she worked at Logan Manor as an Aide and then in the Housekeeping Department. Cherie was a hard worker and was known for "making sure things got done right." She truly loved her job and enjoyed the friendships she formed with the residents and staff there.
Cherie was blessed with two sons, Roy, Jr. and Rodney, and also with four grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was seeing and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Another treasure in her life was her companion & friend, Paul Motes, whom she referred to as "the love of her life". She and Paul (along with his dogs) thoroughly enjoyed just being together and sharing each day. In her spare time she also loved being outdoors, working in her yard.
Cherie had a wonderful sense of humor and liked having "a cold drink and a few laughs" with her family and friends. She had a caring spirit and was especially kind and attentive to her sister, Patty.
She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and co-workers.
Her parents, a brother, Lionel, and a sister, Sandra Rednower, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, Roy Sporleder, Jr. (Kelly) and Rodney Sporleder, all of Haysville, KS; four sisters: Vicki (Glenn) Kendall of Phillipsburg, KS; Bonnie (Arnold) Williams and Patricia Colby, all of Logan, KS; and Kenita (Kenny) Dunn of Derby, KS; four grandchildren, Samantha, Jordyn, Jayla & Payton Sporleder; and her significant other, Paul Motes of Logan, KS.
