Cordell Curtis Clason was born on February 9, 1936 to Horace and Ruth Clason (Getty) in Norton, KS. Cordell went on to be with his Heavenly father on March 23, 2011 in Wichita, KS at the age of 75.
Cordell is survived by a brother Ron Clason of Northfield, MN. Cordell is also survived by his roommates in whom they all considered themselves one big happy family, they include Joy Williams, Deanna Whisler, Virgil Leak, and John Collins. Cordell is also survived by his guardian Connie Waldman, who has been his guardian and friend since 2004.
Cordell lived in Goodland, KS, receiving services from Gold West Community Services since June 25, 1987.
Cordell was a very dignified and modest man. Cordell enjoyed his coffee social hour. Many referred to Cordell as a "people watcher" as his favorite activity was to observe others and happenings around him. Cordell was a very well liked man, and considered part of the family with his roommates and staff that have worked and known him for over the last 20 years.
Cordell spent his time doing retirement activities. He enjoyed a good western movie, Andy Griffith sitcoms, Bonanza, and listening to country and western music, he even enjoyed some Lionel Richie. Cordell enjoyed kite flying with his friends, going out to eat at various restaurants and sitting outside enjoying the nice weather.
Cordell is preceded in death by his father Horace Clason and his mother Ruth Getty.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011 in the Long Island Cemetery, Long Island, Kansas with Pastor Dean Gilbert officiating.
Cordell will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Monday and again until 11a.m. Tuesday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, 1115 2nd Street, Phillipsburg, Kansas 67661.
