Obituary

Norton resident, Curtis J. Glenn, passed away on August 29, 2023, at the age of 69.

Curtis Joy Glenn was born in Norton, Kansas to Joy and Gladys (Albin) Glenn.

Curtis (known to his friends as Captain or Cap) played basketball for NCHS but mostly enjoyed cruising and spending time with friends in his '57 Chevy and Ford Torino King Cobra. After graduating, he moved to Aspen and enjoyed exploring the Rockies while living with his buddies. When his time in Aspen was over he moved back to Norton and worked at Harding Glass and Western Distributing before purchasing Ernest Laundry. He eventually sold his business and was on OTR trucker for Tamko in Phillipsburg. Curtis worked for the State of Kansas until he retired in 2020. While in Norton, Cap displayed his artistic talents by creating many signs in the Norton area. Travelers to Norton were welcomed for many years by Cap's large billboard on the west side of town.  Curtis married Connie Lacy in 1991 and they later divorced. Cap enjoyed spending time golfing, boating, hunting, and fishing. And yes, Duke and Cap finally won the annual Carp Derby! Saturdays were spent pulling for the Sooners, and Sundays were dedicated to cheering on the Chiefs. Later in life, he met Lydia Dunque and they spent years together traveling and enjoying each other's company.

Cap was a caring and generous friend to many people in the Norton area. We will miss his laid back and fun loving spirit. You are forever in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents Joy and Gladys Glenn, brother John Glenn, and nephew Matthew Glenn.

Survivors include his brothers Eric Glenn and wife Brenda of Norton, Kansas, and Randy Glenn and wife Denise of Manhattan, Kansas, companion Lydia Dunque of Norton, Kansas, and sister-in-law Karen Glenn of Norton, Kansas.
