Dale Reeves 88, Phillipsburg died Monday April 11, 2011. He was born July 10, 1922 to Reva (Smith) Reeves and John Gordon Reeves.
He was born in Minneapolis Ks and attended grade school until 4th grade when the family moved to Concordia, Ks. When he was in 8th grade the family moved to Smith Center where he graduated high school in 1940.
In October of 1942 he joined the Navy attending basic training at Great Lakes Naval Training station. He was shipped to Pearl Harbor and later transferred to Barbers Point Naval Station in Oahu Hawaii. The later part of 1944 he was transferred back to the States. While on leave he and Phylis Albrecht were married on November 10, 1944. He was reassigned to the Pensacola Naval Air Station till September 17, 1945 when he received an honorable discharge.
He returned to Smith Center and went to work with Western Light and Telephone transferring to Phillipsburg in January of 1946 serving as lineman, line foreman and district manager. In 1967 he transferred to Dodge City as the Division Commercial Manager. In 1970 he was promoted to Division Manager of the Eastern Division at Harper, Ks. a position he held until he retired in 1985 with 40 years with the company.
In 2008 Dale and Phylis moved from Harper back to Phillipsburg and continued wintering in Mesa, Az.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Barbara and his four sister.
Survivors include is wife Phylis of the home, his daughter Connie Price of Phillipsburg, grandson Jerry Whittaker Alexandria, Virginia, and son in law Rick Whittaker, Mesa, Az.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 30 at the First United Presbyterian church with Rev. Chris Davis officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center, Ks.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Presbyterian Church.
Friends may sign the book on Thursday & Friday prior to the service from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
