Obituary

Darwin Wayne McReynolds 53, of Sylvan Grove, KS, passed away quietly in his home on November 14, 2025. Darwin was born to James and Merna (Kaser) McReynolds on May 28, 1972, in Osborne, KS. The youngest of his siblings, Darwin spent his childhood fully embracing the role of little brother. He also grew up alongside several of his nieces and nephews, creating bonds that lasted throughout his life. Darwin enjoyed playing football, listening to rock and roll, helping with 4-H, and coyote hunting. He graduated from Osborne High School in 1991.

Darwin was previously married to Kenetta Soukup, and together they welcomed three children; Chelsi, Ashly and Tyler. He made sure his children learned about farming, hard work, and Kansas State football, a few of the things he loved most.

In 2004, Darwin met Tressie Hulen, and their life together brought him two more children to love, Hayleigh and Briley. During their 21 years together, he watched his children grow up, start families of their own, and bring grandchildren into his world. He dedicated himself to his work, to Tressie, and to the family he cherished. Some of his happiest moments were spent teaching his children and grandchildren about farming, hunting, and telling the stories only he could share.

Though communication might not have been his strong suit, Darwin was always there to listen when someone needed him most. He may have been hot-headed and stubborn at times, but when it came to his family, he'd do anything for them. Darwin was proud of his children and grandchildren, and he was never shy about telling anyone who would listen.

Darwin is survived by his wife, Tressie Hulen, of the home, his children; Chelsi (Mark) Muleski of Algona, IA, Ashly McReynolds (Zach Gimeson) of Norton, KS, Tyler McReynolds (April Sonnier) of Sylvan Grove, KS, Hayleigh (Ryan) Eck of Concordia, KS, Briley Hulen (Daniel Lentz) of Almena, KS; his brothers Daniel (Shelia) McReynolds of Concordia, KS, Dwight McReynolds of Alton, KS; his sister Dana (Robert) Hollerich of Tipton, KS; his grandchildren; Ashton Lentz, Temperance McReynolds, Elisha Eck, Rylee Gimeson, Nadia Lentz, Jaxtyn Eck, Henry Muleski, Beckham Eck, OakLeigh Eck, and Cooper Gimeson; and his many nieces and nephews.

Darwin is preceded in death by his parents; James and Merna McReynolds; sister, Darla Keever; unborn child, Chastley Dean; former wife, Kenetta Soukup, and his grandparents.

Cremation was planned.  A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 21st, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg, KS, with Pastor Emily Blank officiating.
