David Leroy Eller, son of Vernon (Dutch) Eller and Sheryl (Rosenberg) Gillette, was born June 20, 1972 at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kansas. He passed away on November 8, 2010 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, Kansas, at the young age of 38.
David attended school in Phillipsburg, Kansas, graduating with a GED in 1991. As a boy, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his Dad and Uncle Leroy.
On February 1, 1992, David was united in marriage to Debbie Hickel. To this union two sons were born: Bradley Eugene and Wesley Dalton. The boys moved to Gaylord to be with their father at the ages of three and five. Later they moved to Phillipsburg, where Brad & Wes now attend high school.
David's greatest joy was the time spent at his sons' school activities and sporting events. Watching his boys play baseball, basketball, and football were the highlights of his life, and no father was ever prouder of his sons than David.
Taking the boys hunting & fishing with Uncle Jared and Grandpas Dutch & Craig were some of their favorite times together. David and Wes were looking forward to the yearly pheasant hunting trip with Dutch and Jared in December. David will truly be missed at this hunt.
David also loved playing the guitar and singing, and he especially enjoyed teaching Wes and his nieces and nephews to play. Being asked to sing at his mother's wedding with aunt Dianne was a special honor for him.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents Derwin and Thelma Eller; grandparents Elven and Bonnie Rosenberg; Grandmother Naomi Bowen; Uncle Jimmy Bowen; Uncle David Rosenberg; Aunt Dianne Wright; and Aunt Zona Brackhan.
He is survived by his sons, Brad and Wes; his fathers, Dutch and Craig; mothers, Bev and Sheryl; brothers, Shawn and Jared; sister Meranda; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. David will be missed as much as he was loved.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Darrell Schmid officiating. Burial followed in the Agra Cemetery, Agra, KS.
