IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David J.
Jansonius
August 4, 1947 – March 19, 2025
David (Dave) James Jansonius was born to Dick William Jansonius and Celia Anne (Sprik) in Phillipsburg, Kansas on August 4, 1947. He attended grade school and graduated from Prairie View in 1965. He attended Kansas State University before returning to the family farm. Dave joined the National Guard in 1967 and served until 1975. He married Velma Verna Preuss on June 1, 1968. They resided in Prairie View, until in 1973, when they began their home in their current residence east of Prairie View. To this union they had four children: Lonnie Lee, Troy Michael, Jason David, and Kristi Lynn.
Dave and Velma built their life farming and raising livestock including cattle, pigs, sheep, horses, and a special nanny goat. Throughout the years Dave worked various jobs, alongside farming, including milking cows for Book's Dairy, helping his dad with the farm, and working for Clarence Tien on his farm. He established Jansonius Hamps (swine production), hauled silage, began Jansonius Harvesting, was a Scout Leader, worked at Norton Livestock, and was involved in the Luctor Christian Reformed Church. He hauled wholesale foods, and later purchased his own semi which he hauled hay, shingles and cattle as Jansonius Transportation. He eventually hauled silage part-time once again. In most recent years, Dave continued to be involved in the farm the best he could by checking cows, water, and fence.
Dave enjoyed visiting with everyone, whether on the phone, in person, via texts, or on the computer. He enjoyed being outdoors. He liked spending time around any and all animals, fishing, pheasant hunting, and attending his kids' and grandkids' ballgames. He was patient in teaching his kids and grandkids in all their activities. Health conditions of lung cancer and copd later limited his activities, but he was still able to keep in contact with family and friends. He was always interested in what his family was doing and everyone's well-being. Dave was quick to praise the Lord, in any instance, but especially when he would receive a positive health report. His belief in prayer and God shown to his very last breath.
Dave is survived by his wife, Velma of the home; son Lonnie Jansonius and wife Laura of Prairie View, KS; son Troy Jansonius and wife Gimmie Jo of Long Island, KS; son Jason Jansonius and wife Kim of Midlothian, TX; daughter Kristi VanDerVeen and Cory of Prairie View, KS. Dave has 8 grandchildren: Makenzie and Zachary, Stuart and Savannah, Kloe and Kade, Kinley and Connor.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
