David was born on August 18, 1934 at home in Phillips County Kansas to Arnold and Anna (Colby) Kaiser. He attended and graduated from Long Island High School in 1952. Immediately after high school, David enrolled at KSC, where he graduated with a BS in agriculture in 1956. After graduating, David joined the US Army where he faithfully served from 1956-1958.
After his honorable discharge, David married the love of his life, Lois Corke in Studley, KS. After their marriage, David began working in the dairy for the Agricultural Experiment Station in Colby, Kansas. In 1959, the couple moved to Olathe, KS where David was hired as the 4-H Club agent for Johnson County and later for Dickinson County.
In 1961, David decided to return to college when he was accepted into Veterinary School at Kansas State University. In June of 1965, he graduated with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, David was hired to work in Indianola, IA where he worked with two veterinarians. Two years later, the couple moved to Humeston, IA where David opened his own Veterinary Clinic. He operated that clinic until 1977 when he sold the business and was accepted into the Federal Meat Inspection Program. David worked in Lexington, NE until 1980 and in Madison, NE from 1980-1983. In April of 1983, David and Lois moved to Hartford where David became the Circuit Supervisor for South Dakota. He retired in 1998.
David loved working on cars and restoring them. He owned Kaiser/Frazer Cars. David restored, repainted and even reupholstered most of his collection. He also collected horse drawn buggies, sleighs and antique tractors. On May 8, 2010, David's collection was sold by auctioneer, Yvette VanDerBrink due to David's health. David was a lifelong member of the Hartford United Methodist Church, where he assisted with the painting of the new addition and was a past member of the Lions Club.
David is survived by his wife Lois of Hartford, SD; children, Valerie (Patrick) Whitney and Thomas Kaiser; grandchildren: Daniel Whitney, Traci Whitney, Kathrena Whitney, Miranda Kaiser and her fiancé Travis Jacobsma and Brooke Kaiser; brothers, Frank (Pauline) Kaiser and John Kaiser; sister, Alta (Gary) Morris; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends; Vicki Kaiser and Gregg Boggs and his chocolate lab, Kallie.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Anna Kaiser.
A service will be held in Hartford, SD at 1:30pm on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Hartford United Methodist Church. Visitation in will begin at 12 noon on Friday with the family present from 5-7pm with a prayer service at 7pm, all at Miller West Funeral Chapel (41st and Valley View Rd, Sioux Falls, SD 57106).
Another service will be held at 10:30am on Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Long Island United Methodist Church, Long Island, Kansas with Pastor Dean Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Long Island Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Roy C. Goodrich American Legion Post No. 304.
Friends may view Monday until service time at the church.
