David Joseph Melroy, son of Joseph & Bessie (Blickenstaff) Melroy, was born April 25, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri and passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the Utica Community Care Center in Utica, Nebraska at the age of 69.

He graduated from Norton High School in Norton, Kansas with the class of 1964.

On November 7, 1980, David was united in marriage to Joan Elizabeth Stanish.

David worked in the tire repair and service business for 42 years.

He loved collecting metal die-cast cars and also enjoyed taking road trips. Anyone who knew David would agree that another favorite pastime of his was TALKING - he really loved to visit!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Bessie, and in 2010, his wife, Joan; and a son, Danny Meyer.

He is survived by a daughter, Diana Melroy-Higgins of Otis, Colorado; six stepsons: Lawrence Morton of Port Jarvis, NY; Thomas Morton of Bradshaw, NE; Gordon Morton of Sauk Centre, MN; David Morton of Branford, CT; Robert Morton of Gardner, KS; and James Morton of Dodge City, KS; his sister, Bernie Vandewalker & husband, Don, of Lincoln, NE; 2 grandchildren, 14 step grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 9, at 2:00 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, KS with Rev. LeRoy Herder officiating. Burial will follow in the Norton Cemetery, Norton, KS.

Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 8, from noon – 9 p.m. and again Monday from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be given to the David Melroy Memorial Fund.
