Obituary

Phillipsburg resident Debra Ann Dreiling left this earth to return Home on January 3, 2020. Although it was unexpected, comfort comes from knowing that she lived every day of her life to the fullest, with a special love that only she could give.

Debra was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska on March 20, 1951, to Richard and Sally (Ross) Greenrod. She was the oldest of 4 children. She was preceded in death by her parents and special dog Bailey.

Survivors include her husband David of the home, her daughter Tracie Ford and husband Kelly of Phillipsburg, grandsons Jordan, Joel, and Jeremy, daughter Amy Dreiling-McCartney of Phillipsburg, granddaughters Mickalee and Abagail McCartney, Brother Robert (Cheryl) Greenrod of Brighton, CO, Michael (Kim) Greenrod of Brighton, CO, sister Jackie Gienapp of Loveland, CO, and sister Kathy Shallenberger, Phillipsburg, as well as many other family members and friends.

Deb spent her youngest years living with her family on a farm in rural Iowa. They moved to Colorado where she spent time living in Arvada and Brighton. While attending high school in Brighton, Deb met the love of her life, David Dreiling. Dave and Deb were married in April of 1969, at the First Christian Church in Brighton and began their lives together. Into this marriage, two daughters were born, Tracie and Amy. Deb stayed at home with her girls while they were young. She dedicated all of her time to her family by keeping the house clean and cooking meals for them.

The family moved to Kansas, where Deb and Dave purchased the Modern Aire Motel in Smith Center and later The Cottonwood Inn in Phillipsburg. Dave and Deb worked tirelessly to establish, upgrade and maintain their businesses. They built a distinguished reputation with the hospitality they provided. During this time, Deb made sure she continued to support her girls. She enjoyed watching Tracie and Amy in all of their school activities until they both graduated.

Family was always of the utmost importance to Deb. Whether it was Kalee's music contests, Jordan's football games, Abby's concerts, Joel's basketball games, or Jeremy's plays, Grandma Deb could be found in the crowd, proudly supporting them. Deb's pastimes are a true reflection of her kindhearted spirit. She was a longtime CASA volunteer, collected antiques, enjoyed swimming with Kat and Trudy, made tie blankets for newborns, and loved spending time with her girls. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandma, and friend. She will be missed by all who were blessed by her presence here on Earth.

Cremation was chosen. A Memorial Service will be held Sat. Jan 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Christian Church, Phillipsburg, with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating.

Friends may sign the book from 9:00 to 9:00 Friday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to CASA or the Phillipsburg Therapy Pool.
