IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Delores Berniece
Elliott
February 6, 1934 – January 2, 2026
Delores Berniece (DeBey) Elliott, daughter of Wilber and Edith (Lowrey) DeBey, was born on the DeBey family farm in Bow Creek Township, Phillips County, Kansas, on February 6, 1934. She welcomed the loving arms of her Heavenly Father, who lifted her to heaven on Friday, January 2, 2026, just 35 days shy of her 92nd birthday.
Delores had a deep, abiding affection for God's gifts of the land and animals. She enjoyed helping her father with his Hereford cattle, riding horses, milking cows, herding sheep, and driving tractors.
On June 22, 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, Forrest Lovell Elliott, in the United Methodist Church in Kirwin, Kansas. It was only natural that she would be content living on the Farley family homestead, which was left to her and Lovell to farm.
The couple raised five children in that historical rock house: Darlene, Denny, twin daughters, Julie & Janet, and Angela. That was where their children were loved and taught about working together and caring for each other as a family.
After Lovell's passing in 2006, Delores continued to live independently on the family farm. She loved the open space and privacy that living in the country provides, along with a few chickens, some cats, and her dog for company. In her golden years, she spent time doing volunteer work at the UMW Thrift Shop in Phillipsburg, as well as helping with Red Cross blood drives and the Hospice Fun-D dinner and auction.
Along with her husband, Lovell, she was preceded in death by her parents, Wilber & Edith DeBey, and brothers, Billy and Jim DeBey; as well as Lovell's parents, Forrest & Ethel, and his brother, Jewell.
Delores was a gifted and selfless lady whose nurturing, loving nature made her the perfect Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma. Along with her five children, her blessings include 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.
To honor her wishes, cremation was planned, and a private family graveside service will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery, Phillips County. Friends may sign the register book on January 15th and 16th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hugunin Family Funeral Homes Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg. The family will be planning a Celebration of Life service for friends, neighbors, and family in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Kirwin Community Methodist Church or the St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, SD.
Hugunin Family Funeral Homes Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
