Dennis W. Brown passed away on April 23, 2025, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 67.
Dennis Wayne Brown, "Denny Bob," was born on April 2, 1958, at the Tomas County Hospital, in Colby, Kansas to his parents, Robert Marvin and Shirley Jean (Swank) Brown. He attended catholic school until the eighth grade and later graduated from Atwood High School in 1976. Throughout high school Dennis worked sheep for Lee Brooks, and was a farm hand for Dennis Warley. During his senior year of high school he worked for Niswonger's feeding grain.
Dennis was united in marriage to Catherine Jo Kogl on August 4, 1978, at the courthouse in Atwood, Kansas. To this union 3 children were born; Marvin, Gary, and Jennifer. Dennis and Catherine later divorced in 2008.
Dennis went to work for TAMKO in 1978, where he enjoyed working for many years. He worked for Phillips County for 10 years driving a trash truck, before eventually retiring. He also worked for several farmers in the Phillipsburg area over the years. Dennis always enjoyed the farm life and loved his animals. You could always find Dennis trying to fix something, or build things. He loved teaching everything he had learned over the years, to his grandkids.
Dennis is preceded in death by his father Robert Brown.
Survivors include his sons Marvin Brown and wife Julie of Hays, Kansas, and Gary Brown and wife Apryl of Hays, Kansas, daughter Jennifer Watt and husband Steven of Phillipsburg, Kansas, significant other Belinda Doonan of Phillipsburg, Kansas, mother Shirley Brown of Atwood, Kansas, sisters Denise Higley of Atwood, Kansas, and Deidra Morgan of Arkansas, grandchildren Keaton Brown, Kinley Brown, Mikhail Brown, Brayden Brown, Kyleigh Brown, Hayden Watt, Hayleigh Watt, Huntley Watt, Hunter Watt, plus 3 more children, and 13 grandchildren he added after meeting Belinda, and 7 great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Dennis will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, with Pastor Jay Brandon officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Atwood, Kansas.
Dennis will lie in state on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends for a visitation Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
