Phillipsburg resident, Donald O. Young, age 89, passed away at his home on August 4, 2021.

Donald was born February 5, 1932 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada the son of Lloyd R. and Catherine (McDonald) Young.

In 1950 Donald joined the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged as Sergeant in 1954.  He worked for many years as a court appointed officer for the Department of Child Support Services in San Bernardino County, California.  He retired in 1985.

Don spent most of his retirement years on his boat in Roche Harbor on San Jaun Island in San Juan County, Washington.  He loved sailing and traveling to visit his children.  In 2015, while visiting his son Dean, he decided to purchase a house in Phillipsburg, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Catherine; sister Carolynda Erskine; a son Cole Young; and two daughters Teresa Garrison and Linda Swift.

Survivors include two sons Dean Young and wife Wanda of Brookings, OR and Michael R. Young of Coeur d'Alene, ID; 3 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and 7 step great grandchildren.

Cremation was planned.  At Donald's request, no services are planned.
