Donna Marie
Bright
April 30, 1935 – January 9, 2026
West Cedar Cemetery
Starts at 2:00 pm (Central time)
Donna Marie Hall Scanlan Bright was born April 30, 1935, to Roy and Zella Hall. Donna and her brother Larry Hall grew up in Agra, Kansas, and she graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in education. She spent her honeymoon driving to California with her new husband, Jack Scanlan. The two had three daughters: Vicki Lee, Terri Lynn, and Kristi LeAnn.
Donna taught school for many years, with the majority of her career as a Language Arts teacher at Juniper School in Palmdale, California. She continued to visit Agra regularly, staying with the Harold Scanlans and joining them at church and the car races. After losing Jack, Donna continued to visit, eventually bringing her new husband, Bill (C.W.) Bright, and his two children, Jerry Ellen and Mark Lee. To her great joy, Donna ultimately had 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Rarely missing an alumni banquet, Donna cherished her time in Agra, visiting with family, including brother Larry and his wife, Pat Hall, and playing rummy with friends. Friends and family were also hosted in Donna’s California homes, where she was always the consummate hostess.
A graveside service will be held at West Cedar Cemetery, Agra, on May 22 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to support the preservation of Agra Lake. Donations should be made payable to the City of Agra, PO Box 37, Agra, Kansas, 67621.
Hugunin Family Funeral Homes, Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, KS, is handling local arrangements.
