Obituary

Longtime Phillipsburg resident, Donna Lamont, passed away March 11, 2016 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, KS at the age of 70.

Donna was born September 11, 1945 at Neodesha, Kansas the oldest of three daughters born to Elvin Lyle & Reva Jean (Fail) Peak. Shortly following her birth, the family moved to California. Following her father's death, they returned to Kansas to be close to her mother's family.

Donna met and fell in love with Leland Miles Graebner at the young age of 16. They eloped to St. John's, Kansas and were married on January 20, 1962. To this union, 4 daughters were born: Latessa, Heather, Eve & April.

Donna & Leland became acquainted with a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints while they lived in Kinsley, KS. They were baptized as members of the church in 1966. Donna & Leland embraced the gospel and in August 1970 they loaded up their two daughters, Letessa & Heather and drove to Salt Lake City, Utah where they were sealed as a family for time and eternity. Eve & April were born under the covenant.

Together, Donna & Leland moved to Phillipsburg, KS in 1988. Donna worked at the Phillips County Hospital as a Lab Tech for 28 years. Then, following 32 years of marriage, Leland passed away in May 1994.

In 1996, Donna met Dennis Lamont at their church. After a short time, Donna asked Dennis if he was ever going to ask her to marry him. They were married in June 1996 in Phillipsburg. They would have been married 20 years this coming June.

Donna and Dennis spent many years enjoying the simple things in life. Donna was able to fulfill her dream of having a horse and buggy to pull in a parade. They enjoyed participating in the reenacting festivals. Donna sewed their costumes and they truly looked like the real McCoys. Donna enjoyed shopping on EBAY and would find all sorts of treasures from around the world to add to her collections. They went to Scottish festivals and renaissance fairs. They enjoyed traveling together when time allowed.

Donna also loved her horses, spending time around her water garden watching the birds, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include husband, Dennis R. Lamont of Phillipsburg; 4 daughters, Latessa Loveland of Beaverton, OR, Heather Gatewood of Morgantown, WV, Eve Welcome of Hillsboro, OR and April Stephenson of Wamego, KS; 2 sisters, Brenda Rief & Lyla McClure, both of Newton, KS; and 10 grandchildren.
Donna was a hugger, she could always hug away all your worries, all your hurts and calm your fears. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
