Obituary

Speed, KS resident, Donna Ilene Studley, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the Hays Medical Center, Hays, KS at the age of 67.

Donna was born May 4, 1956 in Phillipsburg, KS the daughter of Duane and Darlene (Crawmer) Horn.

She attended Speed Grade School and graduated from Phillipsburg High School with the class of 1974.  Following high school she attended Fort Hays State University, graduating with an associate degree in business.

After graduation she went to work at Vitztum Floor Covering in Hays, Kansas until moving to North Platte, NE with her fiancée Mark Studley in 1979.

Donna and Mark were united in marriage on October 3, 1980, in Phillipsburg, KS.  While in North Platte she was employed at Montgomery Wards as an accountant.  In 1985 the family relocated to Speed Kansas where she worked various jobs until 1989 when she found her passion as the office manager at the Phillips County Retirement Center working with the elderly.  She was a devoted employee for the past 34 years.

With love for her hometown, she served as the city clerk of Speed for 25+ years working to better and preserve the community.  A few of the events she helped to coordinate include benefit soup lunches, Halloween parties for the community, and the Hot Wheels celebrations in 2006 and 2008.

In addition to her civic involvement, she loved spending time outdoors with her garden and flowers and relaxing on the front porch with her family and friends.  She especially treasured her time with her grandchildren.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Grandson Ayden, and her sister Stephanie.

Survivors include her  husband Mark of the home, sons Kevin and wife Jen of Victoria, MN; Caleb of Ellis, KS; and daughter Cortney Trammell and husband Matt of Speed, KS; 3 grandchildren Maci Trammell and Ryan and Dylan Studley ; 3 sisters: Deb LeBlanc and husband Charlie of Phillipsburg, Denise Lyon and husband Wyatt of Speed, and Dee Ann Breese and husband Dick of Hill City as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2023 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg. The services will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery, Speed.

Mrs. Studley will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Speed Community Center or Belmont Cemetery.
