Donna Mae Van Eaton, daughter of Carl & Edna (Kuhlman) Diercks, was born August 7, 1936 in rural Phillips County and died February 22, 2012 at her home in Agra, Kansas at the age of 75.
As a young girl Donna attended schools in Kensington and graduated from Kensington High School with the Class of 1954.
She married Burton "Herb" Van Eaton in Kensington on her 18th birthday, August 7, 1954. This union was blessed with three children: Steven, Dixie and Keith. Herb & Donna celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in August of last year.
Donna worked as a Secretary for the Eastern Heights High School in Agra, then for Dr. Elsner's Chiropractic office in Phillipsburg, and later at the Phillips County Hospital until her retirement.
In her spare time she enjoyed playing Bingo, traveling with her sisters, playing pitch with her family and going to the casinos to gamble. Her greatest joys in life were all of her grandchildren & great-grandchildren, and most recently, a great-great-granddaughter.
Donna will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Her parents, Carl & Edna, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Burton "Herb", of the home in Agra; her sons, Steve & Keith and daughter, Dixie Blackburn, all of Agra; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; three sisters: Thelma Sims of Agra; Wilda Conaway of Kensington; and Ila Walker of Elizabeth City, NC; and many nieces & nephews.
Cremation was planned. A graveside service will be held Wed., Feb. 29, at 2:30 p.m. in the Agra Cemetery in Agra, KS with Pastor Becky Saddler officiating. There will be a lunch for family & friends prior to the service Wednesday at 12:30 at the Agra American Legion.
Friends may sign her memory book at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg, KS on Monday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Tues. from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Services, Agra E.M.S. or the Agra American Legion Auxiliary
