Obituary
Phillipsburg resident, Doris L. VanAllen-Allen, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18 at the Phillips County Retirement Center in Phillipsburg at the age of 87. She was born March 3, 1922 in Phillips County, KS to Noah & Hazel (King) Crown. She served as Clerk of the District Court in Phillips County for several years.
She was united in marriage to Leland VanAllen on Sept. 11, 1945 in Phillipsburg. He passed away on Feb. 25, 1992. On Dec. 16, 1995 she was united in marriage to Lyle Allen in McPherson, KS.
Survivors include her husband, Lyle of Phillipsburg; her son, Robert VanAllen of Albuquerque, NM; two daughters, Barbara Polfer of Leawood, KS and Jeri Schmid of Agra; her sister, Wilma McDowell of Bellevue, NE; 6 grandchildren & 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Christian Church, Phillipsburg, with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church or Hospice Services.
