Dorothy “Dot” Lewis was born at the family farm in Phillipsburg, KS on September 3, 1935. She was the eldest daughter of Dick and Kathleen (Townsend) Culwell. She passed away in Kissimmee, FL on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at the age of 90.
Dorothy graduated from Phillipsburg High School with the class of 1954. She married Billy Baker on February 4, 1955. To this union two children were born. They later divorced. Dorothy and Eldon Campbell were married on January 12, 1968, adding two stepdaughters to her family. They also later divorced. Dorothy married Derald Lewis on May 18, 1979, and they made their home in Radcliff, KY. During this marriage they welcomed two boys into their lives, Robert Blankenship and Mark Tabb. After Derald’s death one of Dorothy’s great joys were Robert’s children Samatha and Sean. She also enjoyed traveling with her friends in Radcliff and coming “home” to Kansas to spend time with her three sisters. Dorothy worked as a secretary and a salesclerk throughout her life. She especially loved working at the jewelry counter since she loved jewelry. Dorothy had a smile that lit up a room, and she loved being around people.
She was preceded in death by her husband Derald Lewis; her parents Dick and Kathleen Culwell; two sisters, Naomi Griffin and Patrica McCready; two brothers-in-law, Gerald McCready and Duane Henry.
Survivors include her sister Leanna Henry of Orleans, NE; two children, Richard Baker and wife Mary of Winterset, IA and Kathleen Perry-Slauter and husband Earl of Utica, NE; two step-daughters, Sheila Stocker and husband Randy of Shelton, NE and Cathy Winters of Phillipsburg, KS; her grandchildren: Charlotte McMullen and husband Donnie, Christina Lloyd and husband William, Justin Baker, Dusty Perry-Donohoe and husband Dave, Jesurun Perry and wife Desiray, and Sarah Lahners; two step grandchildren Talatha Reese and husband Jay and Jason Winters; 14 great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren;
Dorothy and Derald fostered two boys - Robert Blankenship and wife Kate of Kissimmee, FL and Mark Tabb of Radcliff, KY; granddaughter Samantha Shepherd and husband Dustin; grandson, Sean Blankenship; great grandchild, Jackson Shepherd; along with her nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family had a private interment at the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg, KS 67661 on Monday, April 20, 2026.
Hugunin Family Funeral Homes, Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, PO Box 563, Phillipsburg, KS 67661, was in charge of local arrangements.
