Douglas L. Uehling passed away on February 16, 2024, at the Colonial Villa, in Alma, Nebraska, at the age of 80. He was born on August 22, 1943, in Oakland, Nebraska, to his parents Orville and Arwilda (Lowe) Uehling.
Doug was a high school graduate of Uehling Schools in 1961. He attended and graduated from Norfolk Jr. College in 1963. Following his graduation, Doug decided to join the United Sates Army, where he served in the Vietnam War until his discharge in 1967. Upon returning he then attended the University of Nebraska and graduated in 1971. While attending the University of Nebraska he met and married Marcia (Dake) Uehling on June 14, 1969, in Orleans, Nebraska. Following graduation he began his career in Soil Conservation Service. He worked in Curtis, NE, Wahoo, NE, Hutchinson, KS, Emporia, KS, and Norton, KS. He retired in 1998.
Doug was a life member of the L. Noble Lund American Legion in Uehling, NE and a faithful member of the Almena Bible Church in Almena, KS.
He is preceded in death by his parents Orville and Arwilda Uehling, son Curtis Uehling, brother Stephen Uehling, parents-in-law Clarence and Viola Dake, and brothers-in-law Nolan and Vance Dake.
Survivors include his wife Marcia Uehling of Orleans, Nebraska, son Keith Uehling of Overland Park, Kansas, brother Russell Uehling and wife Joyce of Freemont, NE, brother-in-law Blaine Dake and wife Lana of Orleans, NE, and sister-in-law Connie Dake of Beatrice, NE.
Inurnment will take place at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Almena, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m., with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Almena Bible Church in Almena, Kansas, with Pastor Ron Martin officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Almena Bible Church.
