Obituary

Edna Marie (Hall) Powell, 96, was born on the family farm north of Gretna, KS to Frank & Maude (King) Hall on July 18, 1921. She left her earthly home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 3, 2018 at the Phillips County Retirement Center in Phillipsburg, KS.

Edna spent her early life on the farm learning and honing her homemaking skills that would continue to serve her well throughout the rest of her life. She loved planting and growing flowers and vegetables and always had large flower beds and garden patches to enjoy.

She graduated from Agra High School in 1939 and went on to teach two years of Normal school in Gretna.

On February 1, 1941, Edna was united in marriage to Doren Powell of Agra, KS. They were married in Kanorado, KS in the home of Doren's brother, Darold Powell, and his wife, Ardys. To this union four children were born: Donald Dean, born in 1943, who died in infancy; then Dwight, Denny and Denice, who survive.

Edna was proud to be a farmer's wife and was devoted to her family. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ in Agra and later in life attended the Community Church of God in Phillipsburg. She relied on her deep Christian faith to help her through the difficult and painful times in her life.

She was adored by many, many friends, her family and all her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Frank & Maude Hall; brothers, Roy & wife, Zella, and Claire & wife, Phyllis; infant son, Donald Dean; and husband, Doren Powell.

She leaves to mourn her departure two sons, one daughter, 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren: Son, Dwight & wife, Janice; grandson, Scott & Casie, and great-grandson, Gavin; granddaughter, Christi & Brad Reid, and great-grandchildren, Kayla & Gage; Son, Denny & wife, Connie; granddaughter, Debbie & Jared Beam, and great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Thomas and Teghan; grandson, Todd & Trina, and great-grandsons, Evan & Eli; Daughter, Denice & husband, Robert Rahjes; granddaughter, Maurica & Troy Bruning, and great-grandchildren, Jessica & Dillon; granddaughter, Kimberly & Tad Frahm, and great-grandchildren, Brady & Jackson; and granddaughter, Jennifer & Brad Mendenhall, with great-grandchildren, Mekenna & Easton.

Although "Goodbye" is hard to say and parting hard to bear,
Yet knowing that the one we loved is in the Master's care
Helps ease the sorrow in our hearts and gives us hope and trust
That we'll be reunited where our loved one waits for us.
