Elsie Runnion, daughter of George & Molly (Reiber) Wagner, was born September 14, 1920 in Fort Morgan, Colorado, and passed away November 27, 2016 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas at the age of 96.
On December 3, 1937 she was united in marriage to Francis W. Runnion in Oberlin, KS. This union was blessed with five children: Niles, Richard, Stanley, Randy and Carol.
Elsie & Francis originally made their home in Phillips County. They later moved to Kansas City, Kansas for 16 years, returning to Phillips County in 1982 to settle permanently.
Elsie enjoyed being a homemaker, wife and mother. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed the trips she made traveling to see them. In later years some of her most treasured memories were the times spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was a long-time member of the Presbyterian Church and enjoyed the companionship of her dogs.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; her brothers & sisters; a grandson, Mark Runnion; and a great-great-granddaughter, Elle Runnion.
She is survived by her sons: Niles (Jean) of Glade, KS; Rich (Mary) of Ottumwa, IA; Stanley (Twila) of Prairie View, KS; and Randy (Ellen) of Phillipsburg, KS; her daughter, Carol Shove of Noonan, GA; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Gregg Runnion officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.
Mrs. Runnion will lie in-state on Wed., Nov. 30, from 5-9 p.m. and again Thursday, Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends Thursday evening from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to Logan Manor or Alzheimer's Association.
