Enid was born April 28, 1925 in McCook, NE. and died at the Norton County Hospital at the age of 94. Her parents were Walter and Olive (Wade) McGee. She had one brother, David. She attended Oberlin Grade School and graduated from Decatur Community High School, Oberlin, KS. in 1943. She briefly went to nurse's training in Denver but returned home and worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Oberlin and Norton for 26 years.
She married Loyal Simmonds in 1948. They resided in Oberlin and a daughter, Lynette was born in 1949. They divorced in 1952.
In 1962 she transferred to Norton because of the Oberlin dial conversion. She then terminated her position in 1972 when Norton converted to dial and she was too young to retire.
In 1970 she married Gene Foland, Almena. He passed away in 1974.
She collected many things including teddy bear, dolls, antiques. She learned to repair the ones that needed it and cataloged every one. She also loved to go to auctions with her young grandson. They would bring home all sorts of good stuff. She enjoyed rodeos and attended the Phillipsburg rodeo for many years, the last time in a wheel chair. She had a favorite cowboy and always got a picture with him. She enjoyed good health for many years but it finally became necessary for her to move in with her daughter. In 2017 she moved to the Andbe Home in Norton.
She is survived by her daughter Lynette Donaldson, Almena; grandson Dustin Donaldson, Hays; great granddaughters Holly and Hannah Donaldson, Hays; one stepson Eugene Foland Junior and wife Terri, Berryton, Kansas; two stepdaughters Nancy and husband David Engler, Topeka and Carolyn Foland, Sacramento, California; step grandsons Brian Engler, Seattle, WA., Travis Foland, Manhattan, Brent and wife Megan, Ft.Worth, Tx.; Mark and wife Rebecca, Olathe and Adam Foland, Berryton, Kansas; step grandaughter Sarah and her husband Mike Wesch, Manhattan, and 9 step great grandchildren; a nephew Mike and wife Sharon McGee, Spring Texas, two nieces Kathy and husband Garth Conroe, Canon City, Co. and Pat Horning, Valley Center, Kansas.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, Feb. 6 at 11:30 a.m. in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Almena, with Pastor Ron Martin officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:00 to 5:00 Tuesday & Wednesday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
