Long Island resident, Evelyn Ponstein, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at her home in Long Island at the age of 91.
She was born in Denver, CO on February 13, 1924, the daughter of John & Hilda (Anema) Pasterkamp. Her husband, John, preceded her in death on June 5, 2010.
She is survived by her sons, Harlan and Ken Ponstein, both of Long Island, KS; three daughters: Hildreth Butterfield of Colorado Springs, CO, Kathy Kooyenga of Thornton, IL, and Lavonne Ponstein of Phillipsburg, KS; a sister, Dorothy Jeltema of Denver, CO; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 1, at 10:30 a.m. in the Luctor Christian Reformed Church, Phillips County, with Pastor Aaron Rust officiating. Burial will follow in the Luctor Cemetery, Phillips County.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 30, from 5 - 9 p.m. and again Sunday, May 31, from noon – 9 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg. The family will greet friends Saturday evening from 7 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
