Fostine Kay Gardner was born on December 21, 1938, in Centralia, Illinois, to Carl Gene Britt and Iris Helen (Whitten) Britt. Fostine passed away on December 20, 2022, at the Phillips County Retiremenf Center in Phillipsburg, Kansas, at the age of 83.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gene and Iris Britt, her husband Paul Gardner, and her two sons-in-law, Leroy Cardenas and Jim Shields.
She worked several different jobs over the years. In the early 90's she went to work at Robinson Implement, which later became Landmark Implement, for over 30 years before retiring at the age 75.
Fostine was an original member of the "Haggled Hags" and enjoyed spending time with all of the other "Hags", whether they were camping, playing cards, or just having dinner together. She also enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and enjoyed attending their many sporting events and school activities.
Fostine is survived by her brother Roderick Britt and wife Sandy of Wilsonville, Oregon, her 3 children, Loujena Cardenas of Hawthorne, Nevada, Kimberly Shields of Phillipsburg, and Bradford Parker of Phillipsburg, as well as 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Phillipsburg, KS, with Pastor David Manyara officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.
Friends may sign the book on Wednesday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
