Francis Raymond Simmons, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Azria Health Woodhaven in Great Bend, Kansas, with his daughter by his side.
Born on September 25, 1938, in Lenora, Kansas, he was the son of Albert and Marie (Cox) Simmons.
Francis proudly served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963 before continuing his service with the Army National Guard, where he served in Phillipsburg from 1963 to 1965. Following his military service, he dedicated 25 years of work to the City of Phillipsburg.
He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Marie, and siblings: Lucille, Margaret, Charles, Allen, and Eleanor.
Survivors include his daughter Mary and her husband Frank Feemster of Ellinwood, Kansas, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and brother Bob Simmons of Goodland, Kansas.
Cremation was planned. There will be a Graveside Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in the Marvin Cemetery in Glade, Kansas with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Pastor Becky Saddler is officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
