IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Fredrick "Fred"
E. Robinson
May 22, 1938 – May 19, 2019
Fredrick Eugene Robinson was born on May 22, 1938 to Sidney Herbert and Mildred Gertrude Drake Robinson in Phillips County, Kansas. Growing up on a farm North of Phillipsburg, he and brother, Loren learned civil engineering skills building earthen creek dams to create swimming holes and finding their own entertainment.
He graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1956 and served a short stint in the National Guard. He decided to join the United States Air Force when a classmate shared that he was enlisting. Fred said, "I will, too", enlisting on July 25, 1956 until his discharge on March 14, 1960.
He was serving on a radar base near Colville, Washington when he met Anna Marie Hedrick. He was sent to Libya and upon return, they were married on April 2, 1960. To this union 3 children were born: Jerol F., Teresa M, and Kristin A.
Fred and Marie moved back to Phillipsburg, Kansas where he began working for Farmland Industries. He began his truck driving career and drove for them until 1977. He opened Robinson Implement and sold Hesston farm equipment and other short lines; expanding the business to include John Deere and renamed the business Phillips County Implement. After selling the business in the mid 90's, Fred returned to the life he loved - driving trucks.
Fred loved Phillipsburg, Kansas. He proudly served 32 years on the school board and with the city government as a council member and mayor. His proudest achievement was forming a committee to oversee the building of the Phillipsburg Aquatic Center.
Fred was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and life member Scottish Rite. He and Marie were also actively involved in Eastern Star.
Fred loved to garden, seeing the beauty of God's creation, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and the greats!
