Obituary

Fronna LaVon King was born November 22, 1928 on a farm near Agra, Kansas to Florence (Gruver) and Cecil King. The family moved to Oregon in 1936 for five years before returning to Agra.

Fronna graduated from Agra High School in 1946 and was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Lyle Rose, on June 8, 1947 in Phillipsburg. To this union was born one son, David and two daughters, Sharon and Marian.

Fronna held several jobs in Phillipsburg during her lifetime: Secretary at the Federal Land Bank, sales clerk at JCPenney, clerk at the Treasurer's Office, secretary at her church, First Christian, and many years as office help at Bill Clarke's Studio.

Fronna spent many hours recording the younger years of their children in photo albums, presenting them to each one as they became adults. Fronna spent several summers coaching girls softball, while both daughters played on teams. Fronna and Lyle thoroughly enjoyed square dancing, travelling, and some game hunting. Lyle lovingly called Fronna, "his moose-shootin' mama". Fronna and Lyle, along with all three children, were members of both the Maverick and Rodeo bands, based out of Phillipsburg.

This past June, Fronna & Lyle were blessed to celebrate 70 years of marriage, a rare milestone. A small family celebration was held to honor them.

Fronna entered into her eternal rest in her new heavenly home on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 15, at the Phillips County Hospital at the age of 88 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Florence King; father and mother-in-law, August and Eva Rose; sisters, Bonnie Wehe and Joyce Boeve; brothers-in-law, Maynard Wehe, Duane Powers, Bob Boeve, Melvin, Loyd, and Ronald Rose, and sisters-in-law Marlyn King, Joyce and Onna Lee Rose.

Fronna is survived by husband, Lyle; son, David of the home; daughters, Sharon Kellogg & husband, Kenneth of McPherson; Marian Silkman, Hays; grandchildren Chris Kellogg, Alisha Streit & husband, Jonathan, Janna Callahan & husband, Russ, Jane Allen & husband, Dustin, and Sarah Silkman; great grandchildren Noah and Ava Streit, Elliott Callahan, Adaleigh Allen; brothers, Mancel of Iowa and Howard King & wife, Dorothy of Scott City; brother-in-law, Russell Rose & wife, Carol and sister-in-law, Martha Rose all of Agra; several nieces; nephews; and many friends.
