Longtime Phillips County Resident, George A. Parker, was peacefully called home on May 13, 2026, at Harlan County Health Systems, at the age of 88.

George was Born on October 24, 1937, to George H. and Rose Parker. He was born on the family farm North of Phillipsburg, Kansas, where he spent the remainder of his life. He attended the LaBell School District, graduating from the 8th grade.

Throughout George’s Life, progress came one hard-won step at a time, with his family’s home not having electricity or running water until the late 1950’s when he installed it himself, for his parents.

George worked most of his life farming and construction, as well as mechanics and welding. He liked to do woodwork and was an excellent craftsman.

He was a member of the National Guard for twenty-two years and was very proud of his service.

George met the love of his life, Phyllis Lutjeharms, in 1989, and the couple enjoyed 37 years of happiness together.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Grace May in infancy, and Margaret Hudson, as well as a nephew John Lemon.

Survivors include his mate and best friend Phyllis, sister Mary Roeder and husband LeRoy of Prairie View, Kansas, seven nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews, along with many relatives and friends.

A memorial service for George will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, in Phillipsburg, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, in Phillips County, Kansas.

Friends and relatives may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
